BE-SAFE Presented at ETC 2026

The paper “BE-SAFE: Initial Developments of a Data-Driven Framework for Cyclist Safety in Smart Cities” was presented at the 54th European Transport Conference (ETC 2026). It brings together the project’s work on accident intelligence, cyclist behaviour, sensing and V2X technologies, and SUMO-based simulation.
Starting Grant Concludes with Final Meeting

The BE-SAFE consortium held its closing meeting at the University of Beira Interior. Partners reviewed the integrated results of the four research tasks, completed the Starting Grant and aligned the next stage of collaboration under BE-SAFE Next.

BE-SAFE Next Selected for UNITA Advanced Grants Funding

BE-SAFE Next has been selected for funding under the UNITA Advanced Grants programme. The expanded consortium brings together six universities and eight associated partners to turn BE-SAFE’s results into a real-world, AI-powered and V2X-enabled cyclist-safety framework.
The initiative began with an online kick-off meeting on July 23. Its five connected work packages will progress from risk and behaviour profiling through sensing and cognitive simulation to integrated pilots in Pamplona, Covilhã and Brașov.
