BE-SAFE Next turns the results of the BE-SAFE Starting Grant into an integrated, real-world framework for cyclist safety. The project combines AI risk modelling, cyclist behaviour, connected sensing and cognitive traffic simulation, then validates them in three European pilot cities.
From BE-SAFE to BE-SAFE Next
The original BE-SAFE project (BicyclE SAFEty for Mobility and Active Riding in Smart Cities) established a multidisciplinary foundation through accident analysis, cyclist behaviour research, IoT/V2X sensing and simulation. The UNITA Advanced Grant now supports the next step: moving from lab-validated prototypes at TRL5 to demonstrations in relevant urban environments at TRL6.
